This comfort is not plush

This comfort is an old tool handled long with skills learned

Handed down, handed down

It is a water mask that has seen the wonders of the deep

It is a chair that has witnessed sorrow and hope. Repaired

And broken again

These images are of a place we have both spent time.

They trigger memories personal, universal.

The smell of charcoal fires, garlic, sunscreen and brine.

The sound of children playing, distant as we slumber in the shade.

Time passes, seasons change, memories linger  

A room is just a room
