This winter saw some of the largest seas and winds for many years. There were few good surfing days and lots of destruction around the coastline. It seemed like most beaches in cornwall had some kind of damage. The sands were scoured from the reefs to such an extent it might be months or more before they return. At the height of the storms I had a photo assignment to find some good locations for a summer fashion shoot. It was a great excuse to visit the coastline. I was very aware of the dangers, and kept well back from the seas. A slip into the water would have been death, and I kept our dog on a tight lead at some locations. The first shot is of Life Rock at Hartland Quay. With so many shipwrecks it was named due to the fact that if you could get to the rock you could survive through the tide. Not this day.
